Every week, the Plaza de los Ponchos comes alive with colourful stalls where artisans and traders display their creations. Textiles, ceramics, jewellery, musical instruments&#8230; <strong>each object tells a story, that of the indigenous peoples of the region<\/strong>. The geometric patterns of the fabrics, a legacy of pre-Columbian cultures, stand alongside the melodious sounds of Andean flutes. Segundo Lema, one of Ecuador&#8217;s greatest luthiers, lives here. In his workshop, he passionately crafts charangos, guitars and other traditional instruments, and visitors can even make their own panpipes! The melodies that emerge sound like <strong>a tribute to the cultural richness of the region<\/strong>.
