The Tatacoa Desert, located in the Huila department of Colombia, just over 300 km from Bogot\u00e1, is much more than an arid expanse – it’s a fascinating landscape of rock formations, towering cacti and red and grey earth. Contrary to its name, Tatacoa is a tropical dry forest, not a desert. The local astronomical observatory<\/em><\/a> offers observation sessions where you can admire the stars, planets and other celestial wonders through powerful telescopes<\/strong>.
