Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay, has just received an award for its commitment to making tourism accessible to all. Winner of the prestigious FITUR4all <\/strong>award, which recognizes the best initiatives in the field of inclusion, the city is now an international benchmark. The award highlights years of efforts to enable people with disabilities or reduced mobility to fully enjoy the cultural and natural riches of Uruguay’s capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A city that places accessibility at the heart of its tourism development<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Far from being a one-off initiative, Montevideo has made accessibility a central pillar of its tourism development<\/a>. Thanks to close collaboration between the municipality and several local associations, major improvements have been made to urban infrastructures and services for travellers with disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the flagship projects is the creation of an accessible tourist circuit <\/strong>comprising adapted routes through emblematic sites such as the Old Town<\/strong>, the Port Market <\/strong>and Rod\u00f3 Park<\/strong>.
