Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Sit<\/mark><\/a>e, Lima\u2019s historic center invites travelers to explore its plazas, streets, and corners that still evoke its original name, the \u201cCity of Kings.\u201d Between sunlit balconies, bustling markets, and quiet courtyards, Peru\u2019s capital offers moments of discovery at every turn. <\/p>\n\n

Morning: from dawn to architecture<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

At sunrise, the Plaza de Armas <\/strong>stands as an unmissable first stop, framed by three iconic landmarks: the Cathedral Basilica of Lima<\/strong>, the Government Palace<\/strong>, and the Archbishop\u2019s Palace<\/strong>, whose baroque fa\u00e7ade and carved wooden balconies immediately catch the eye.The Cathedral, begun in 1535, blends Renaissance and Neoclassical styles, with its twin towers and the \u201cGate of Forgiveness<\/em>\u201d at the entrance. Inside, altarpieces, gilded chapels, crypts, and the tomb of Francisco Pizarro<\/strong> testify to nearly five centuries of history. <\/p>\n\n

From there, wander into the jirones<\/em>\u2014the center\u2019s streets\u2014and stroll (jironear<\/em>, as locals say) along Jir\u00f3n de la Uni\u00f3n to Plaza San Mart\u00edn<\/strong>.
