Long almost exclusively associated with salsa<\/a>, Cali<\/a><\/strong> is now broadening its tourism narrative. The city has launched an Afro Tourism Route<\/strong>, a free guide bringing together 53 cultural experiences linked to the Afro-descendant heritage of Colombia\u2019s Pacific region<\/strong>. The initiative does not seek to replace existing symbols, but rather to make visible another foundational dimension of local identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conceived as a structured tool aimed at the international market, the route expands the range of urban tourism offerings by drawing on practices, knowledge, and cultural expressions that have long remained on the margins of traditional tourism circuits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A project rooted in territory and communities<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Cali is the second city in Ibero-America with the largest Afro-descendant population. This demographic reality is now reflected in a tourism product with a clearly defined identity, developed through collaborative work between the city\u2019s Tourism Secretariat<\/strong> and local Afro-descendant communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The experiences included cover several complementary dimensions<\/strong> of this heritage. They range from traditional musical expressions\u2014such as marimba<\/a> and percussion\u2014to spaces dedicated to oral transmission and memory, knowledge related to midwifery, contemporary fashion and aesthetic proposals with African roots, handicrafts, and a gastronomic offering centered on recipes and beverages from the Pacific region, including viche and traditional confectionery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
