ALTITUDE
Only in the Northern of Argentina, region dominated by the Andes, some cities and sites are 2,200 meters above the sea level.
BEVERAGES
The wine is obviously produced in the Mendoza, Cordoba and Northwest Regions. Must be tasted the National drink, “la yerba maté”, Maté herbal drink (or maté) bitter testing drinkable with a silver pipette (or bombilla) in a calabash
CRAFTS
There is a vast variety of leather goods in the entire country. In Buenos Aires and also the Pampa region, more significantly in San Antonio de Areco, you can find art silver objects inspired by the gauchos culture. In the Northeast region, the rich handicraft is created by local aborigine communities such as wool textiles, ceramics and ornaments.
CREDITS CARDS
VISA and MASTERCARD are accepted by hotels and restaurants. Secured ATMs are common downtown Buenos Aires where you can withdraw Pesos. Please also check the MONEY section.
CURRENCY & EXCHANGE

Peso is the local currency, it has important fluctuations. However, Euro can be exchanged in most of the cities and regions. Travelers’ checks are not generally accepted.

CURRENT TIME

-4h on French winter time and -5h on summer time. When it is 11h00 AM in Paris, it is 7h00 AM in Buenos Aires in winter but in summer is 6h00 AM.

ELECTRICITY

Argentina operates on 220 volts, nevertheless an international plug adapter is recommended even if most of the plugs are hybrid.

GASTRONOMY

Beef or lamb Grilled meats (asado patagonico) make travelers happy. Served with raw dishes and sometimes sausages (chorizo) as well as poultry (achurras), can be found in specialized restaurants. Sea food such as spider crab can be savored in Valdès region and in Ushuaia as well. In the Northwest, the cuisine is created around criollos flavors, “dulce de leche” deserts are ever-present.

HEALTH
No vaccination is required to enter the country, however we advise you to drink mineral water and avoid tap water.
HOW TO DRESS?
Bring basics such as light warm clothes even if the trip is during summer season. Windproof and parka are highly recommended if you travel to the Andes and the Patagonia. For Iguazu Falls, light clothes and a raincoat. Wise to wear closed-toe athletic and comfortable shoes.
LANGUAGE
Spanish is the official language. English is widely spoken in tourist areas and sometimes French too.
SAFETY
Using and showing respect to the local manners, it is pretty safe to travel in Argentina. However it is advised to be careful in bigger cities such as Buenos Aires and Salta.
TIPS
It is not indicated that tips are included or not in the services, however it is customary to tip about 10% of the bill for decent services.
TRANSPORTS
Argentina is very spread out over 2 800 000 km2, transportation widely used is by plane. For your information the flight time from Buenos Aires to Calafate (Patagonia) is 4 hours. It is possible to visit the Andean region (NOA) by car if you like to drive on mountain roads. In Buenos Aires, the city’s public-transportation system is efficient to get around, especially the Metro Line 1. Taxis are available, not too costly and have a taximeter.
WEATHER
In southern hemisphere, the seasons are reversed. To visit Patagonia the best ideal temperatures  are from October to March. For the Northwest region, the best season is from March to November. Iguazu Falls can be visited all year.
