After the carnival season, activity does not slow down in Latin America. In April, several cities continue with a packed agenda, combining popular celebrations, cultural events, professional gatherings, and international competitions.
Zacatecas Cultural Festival — Mexico (March 28 to April 11)
In Zacatecas, the capital of the state of the same name, the Cultural Festival sets the tone with more than 400 activities over two weeks. Artists from around twenty countries are expected, with strong local participation accounting for nearly 70% of the program.
With more than forty years of history, the event has established itself as a major fixture in Mexico. Concerts, performances, and exhibitions take place both in emblematic venues such as the Fernando Calderón Theatre and in the streets of the historic center. The Zacatecas State Symphonic Band is among the groups regularly featured.
Holy Week (March 29 to April 5)
In many Latin American countries, Holy Week remains a widely observed period, marked by celebrations that go far beyond the religious sphere.

In Quito, Ecuador, the Jesús del Gran Poder procession crosses the historic center and draws large crowds. In Ayacucho, Peru, the ceremonies extend for more than a week, with daily processions involving the entire city.
Some of these traditions are recognized by UNESCO. In Popayán (Colombia), Good Friday processions still follow routes defined as early as the 16th century. In Antigua Guatemala, the streets are covered with ephemeral carpets made of colored sawdust, flowers, and fruit, prepared over hours before the processions pass.
Wings of Change Americas (WOCA) — Santiago, Chile (April 8–9)
Organized by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), this edition—under the theme “Beyond Borders – Aviation as a Catalyst for Economic Transformation”—focuses on the role of aviation as a driver of economic development in the Americas.
Discussions will address infrastructure, operations, energy transition, and the integration of new technologies. Traffic growth in emerging markets and sustainability issues will also be part of the agenda.
World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships — Brasília, Brazil (April 12)
For its 31st edition, the World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships will be held in Latin America for the first time. Organized by the Brazilian Athletics Confederation with the support of World Athletics, Brasília will host more than 333 athletes from around 40 countries, with participation potentially exceeding 400 competitors.

Six events are scheduled, with both individual and team rankings, in senior and U20 categories. Among the expected athletes are Caio Bonfim, Olympic medalist; Massimo Stano, Olympic champion; and Peru’s Kimberly García, double world champion.
The event’s visual identity incorporates several architectural landmarks of the capital, such as the Metropolitan Cathedral, the National Congress, and the Juscelino Kubitschek Bridge.
WTM Latin America — São Paulo, Brazil (April 14–16)
WTM Latin America returns to São Paulo with 837 exhibitors, participants from 49 countries, and around 32,000 professionals expected.
The program alternates between conferences and meetings focused on market developments, tourism technologies, and destination development models. Spaces such as the Responsible Tourism Theatre and the Technology & Innovation Theatre host case studies and practical insights related to sector transformations.
Cartagena International Film Festival — Cartagena de Indias, Colombia (April 14–19)
Founded in 1960, FICCI remains the oldest film festival in Latin America. In Cartagena, it takes place across multiple venues, from traditional theaters to open-air screenings.
Screenings are held at venues such as the Adolfo Mejía Theatre, as well as within the walled city and at Plaza de los Coches. Seaside screenings in Bocagrande complement the program and contribute to the festival’s identity.
Throughout the month, these events confirm that activity is not limited to major festive periods. From one city to another, April unfolds within a continuous dynamic, driven by events capable of attracting a wide range of audiences.
