The conquerors of the ring and the air: Aeromexico’s new campaign

Share

“We celebrate all forms of flying”. Aeromexico is launching its new advertising campaign, ‘Aeromexicanos’, which pays tribute to the cultural heritage of lucha libre (Mexican wrestling) in the country.

Inspiration from a cultural symbol

Renowned for the incredible acrobatics performed by its wrestlers in the ring, lucha libre is considered to be part of Mexico’s cultural heritage. These gravity-defying feats give the illusion that every time they fight, the athletes are able to fly. Aeromexico takes this idea a step further by treating each flight as an authentic work of art. This analogy highlights not only the skill and bravery of the fighters, but also the spirit of surpassing oneself and the feeling of national pride.

The campaign aims to make the passion of flying a common ground between the wrestlers and their passengers. Another key element of this promotional campaign is to showcase the stars of the sport, such as Redimido, Tigre Blanco, Bandido and Barack, true representatives of this Mexican folklore.

Mexico’s ambassador to the world

With a 90-year history, Aeromexico is one of the country’s flagship airlines. Internationally recognised, it was named the world’s most punctual airline in 2024 by Cirium, a company specialising in aviation analysis.

By integrating lucha libre into its universe, Aeromexico is also reaching out to a younger audience, sensitive to the fervour of this pop culture. More than just a flight, Aeromexico offers a unique experience: a journey driven by the fighting spirit and pride of Mexico, where every take-off is an opportunity to celebrate the heritage of an entire people.
