“Hidden beauty in Colombia”: a new campaign to discover the country’s new destinations

Share

Colombia is opening up its skies to unexplored destinations. The new initiative, “Pistas de la Belleza Escondida”, promises to boost tourism in the country’s emerging regions thanks to new air links.

New gems to discover

With the aim of connecting the world to the country’s hidden treasures, Procolombia, in alliance with the Civil Aeronautics sector, is developing a new project that includes the optimisation of 20 aerodromes in difficult-to-access areas such as the Pacific, the Amazon-Orenoque, the Colombian Massif (Almaguer node) and the eastern Andes.

These regions are distinguished not only by their natural wealth but also offer unique experiences that, due to a lack of accessibility, have long remained off the traveller’s radar. Today, thanks to a commitment to improving their air links, they are beginning to emerge as new destinations for those seeking a different aspect of Colombia.

First destinations to take off

The first two destinations in the project are Tolú, in the Colombian Caribbean – two hours from Cartagena de Indias – and Bahía Solano, on the Pacific coast, which already have improved runways and a growing tourist offer.

Tolú was chosen for its natural wealth, peaceful beaches, mangrove swamps and proximity to the San Bernardo archipelago and the Montes de María: an ideal combination for lovers of idleness and adventurers alike.

Bahía Solano combines a balance of jungle, wild ocean and biodiversity. It’s a favourite spot for whale watching and eco-tourism organised by local communities.

Next stopovers

The list of new destinations will be unveiled as the project progresses. By gradually linking up areas that were once difficult to access, the project aims to offer a mosaic of experiences that will appeal to key markets in the United States and Europe.

Reinventing regions through tourism

Carmen Caballero, President of ProColombia, points out that the initiative is not limited to air transport: “We hope that the impact will be transcendent and will result in a real transformation for the well-being of thousands of communities“.

Faithful to a vision of tourism in which discovery goes hand in hand with the preservation of ecosystems and the well-being of local people, the project is based on resolutely sustainable development.

Pistas de la Belleza Escondida reveals a little-known Colombia, far beyond the traditional itineraries. A unique opportunity to rediscover the ‘Land of Beauty’ in all its diversity, always ready to reveal a new treasure off the beaten track.
