Several airlines are making headlines with route launches, new partnerships, and operational adjustments designed to improve the passenger experience. Here’s a roundup of the main announcements and trends taking off across the region.


Volaris Costa Rica Expands into the U.S. Market

Starting in early July, the ultra low-cost airline will launch two major routes from San José: to Orlando and Miami. With these new direct connections, Volaris aims to significantly contribute to economic development, two-way tourism, and stronger bilateral and cultural ties between Costa Rica and the United States. For the Miami route, flights will be operated jointly by Volaris San Salvador and Volaris Costa Rica.

Avianca Links Bogotá and Dallas, Strengthening Its U.S. Presence

The Colombian airline is expanding its international network with a new direct route between Bogotá and Dallas, operated four times per week. This connection adds to the 43 routes Avianca already offers from Colombia, Central America, and Ecuador to the United States, increasing its total number of U.S. destinations to 14. These include New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Chicago, and now Dallas, reinforcing Avianca’s position as one of the region’s most established carriers.

This addition strengthens the airline’s presence in the country, already connected to Madrid via Punta Cana and Santo Domingo, confirming the Dominican Republic as one of its main markets in Latin America.
