Mexico breaks a Guinness record and redefines the showcase for Latin American tourism. The 49ᵉ Tianguis Turístico, held in Baja California, welcomed more than 7,000 professionals in a single day, setting the highest attendance ever recorded at a tourism trade show in Mexico. This spike in participation illustrates the growing international traction of a country that, with 45 million visitors by 2024, already occupies 6ᵉ place in the world.
Unprecedented crowds for one of the country’s tourist showcases
“It was the most inclusive, most connected and most economically impactful Tianguis Turístico in history,” said Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora.
As well as being the highest rated event numerically, with a reach of over 64 million unique accounts created, the event was attended by 8,781 people from 46 countries, who did business with nearly 4,000 exhibitors and 1,773 buyers, 69% of whom came from the United States and Canada. Similarly, 71,882 business meetings were held, 50% of which resulted in sales.
For its 49th edition, air connectivity was also one of the main themes of the event, with the announcement of 28 new international routes and 7 domestic routes. These are mainly routes between Mexico and the United States, as well as routes to Europe (Madrid) and Latin America (Costa Rica, Panama and Colombia), while the domestic routes strengthen regional connectivity, notably between Mexico City and cities such as Morelia and Chihuahua.
An epicentre of Mexican tourism
The choice of Baja California to host the event is no coincidence. The peninsula, with its desert landscapes, breathtaking coastline and rich culture, has shown remarkable growth in its tourism infrastructure, with investments in air connectivity, service modernisation and the promotion of its must-see destinations such as Los Cabos and Tijuana.

The success of this unprecedented business meeting underlines the importance of collaboration between governments, the private sector and local communities to promote tourism in a sustainable way.
Much more than just an event, Tianguis Turístico 2025 embodies the essence of its name – ‘tianguis’, a pre-Columbian term in the Nahuatl language meaning ‘market’. This symbolism is perfectly suited to an event that has become a global meeting place for the tourism sector. This new record is not only a defining moment for Mexico, but also a reflection of the growing international interest in a dynamic region, rich in culture and biodiversity. In a sector where travellers are looking for authenticity, transformative experiences and human connections, Latin America is emerging as a destination that not only attracts, but inspires.
