Airport features and capacity
The airport, designed to complement the existing tourism infrastructure, has a 3.7-kilometre runway capable of handling large aircraft, a modern terminal with capacity for 13 commercial aircraft, and a dedicated business aviation site. With this new gateway, Tulum is expecting a significant increase in visitor numbers, strengthening its position as a leading tourist destination.
To date, 6 airlines have confirmed their operations with this new airport: Aeromexico, American Airlines, Delta, Spirit, VivaAerobus and Volaris. International connections will initially be mainly to the United States and Canada, with flights to and from New York, Houston, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Toronto in addition to connections from the main national airports.
