Visit Iguazú LGBT+: a new Argentine platform for inclusive tourism

Share

Puerto Iguazú has taken an important step toward international openness with the launch of Visit Iguazú LGBT+. Presented in Buenos Aires at the Gnetwork360 conference, the project brings together the Iguazú Municipal Tourism Entity (ITUREM) and the LGBT Chamber of Commerce and Tourism. It offers a comprehensive showcase of the region, with unique experiences such as the possibility of celebrating weddings in the heart of nature and a selection of service providers trained to welcome travelers in an inclusive environment.

A guide designed for diversity

Designed as a virtual guide, Visit Iguazú LGBT+ brings together information on nature, gastronomy, hotels, cultural activities, and nightlife, complemented by an annual calendar of events.

During the presentation, ITUREM President Leopoldo Lucas emphasized that “the LGBT+ segment is not only of great economic importance to tourism, it also demands services that meet standards of quality, exclusivity, safety, and authenticity. It is our responsibility as a destination to live up to these expectations.”

The Diversity Department of Puerto Iguazú also participated in the creation of this platform, which aims to make the city the second LGBT+ destination in the country, just behind Buenos Aires.

Weddings and civil unions in the heart of nature

Iguazú stands out for its unique offering: the possibility for foreign couples to get married in iconic natural sites. Provincial regulations allow civil unions and marriages for non-residents in places such as the Iguazú Falls, the Moconá Falls, or the Salto Encantado. Ceremonies can be held at lookout points, in national parks, or even on boats. This opportunity paves the way for tourist packages combining accommodation, wedding planning, and jungle activities.

Committed service providers

The program also includes the Todxs Bienvenidxs (Everyone is Welcome) distinction, awarded to hotels, restaurants, agencies, and operators that guarantee a respectful and non-discriminatory welcome. Participating establishments commit to training their staff and collaborating with public and private actors to continuously improve the quality of the experience offered to travelers.

A cultural offering all year round

Visit Iguazú LGBT+ is accompanied by an annual program that enhances the destination’s appeal. Diversity Week (November 24-29), pride marches, and numerous artistic events—cinema, theater, concerts—are all on the calendar. The goal is to offer stays that combine nature discovery and an active cultural life, in all seasons.

With this platform, Iguazú is no longer content to be just a gateway to the famous falls: the city is asserting its identity as an inclusive destination, capable of combining nature, culture, and hospitality for an international audience seeking authentic and respectful experiences.
