This accreditation granted by the International Airports Council (I.A.C.) is based on the recommendations of the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), which aims to establish common health measures between I.A.C. and the aviation security protocol drawn up by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

The objective is to demonstrate to passengers, airport employees, strategic partners and authorities the measures that the airport has taken to prioritise health and safety.

The process is voluntary and A.C.I. evaluates all the information provided to verify compliance with the programme parameters. Valid for one year, airports must carry out periodic self-assessments and quality controls, leading to a cycle of continuous improvement as situations and requirements change.

Aspects assessed as part of the programme include cleaning and disinfection, physical separation (where possible), protection of airport staff, communication with passengers and passenger facilities.

All passenger areas and procedures are considered, including access to the terminal, check-in areas, security screening, boarding gates, lounges, retail shops, food and beverage outlets, boarding bridges, escalators and lifts, immigration control areas and facilities (in collaboration with the authorities), baggage retrieval area and departure area of the arrivals area.

The Managing Director of Corporación Quiport said: “By obtaining airport health accreditation, we are sending the right message: not only are we preparing to resume operations, but we are also committed to constantly evaluating our processes and preventive measures to improve them, always based on the recommendations of the bodies that regulate air transport. Our commitment is to health and safety”.
