With this first regional focus, air transport news changes scale. After the major international routes to Latin America, this monthly feature will follow the connections that structure travel within the region: cross-border flights, seasonal reinforcements, domestic routes and hub adjustments.
July’s announcements show several complementary dynamics. The Argentina-Brazil axis is strengthening in both directions, between Brazil’s Northeast for the southern summer and Ushuaia for the winter season. Central America is reactivating a short-haul connection between Guatemala and El Salvador. In Mexico, the domestic network is gaining capacity, while Copa Airlines is adjusting its service to northern Peru via Chiclayo from Panama.
Argentina and Brazil: two seasons, two flow patterns
LATAM Airlines is already preparing the 2026-2027 summer season between Argentina and Brazil. The airline will launch direct flights between Buenos Aires/Ezeiza and two destinations in Brazil’s Northeast: Natal and Maceió. Operations will be seasonal, from December 15, 2026 to February 28, 2027, with three weekly frequencies on each of the two routes.
This offer responds to a familiar logic in the Argentine market, where Brazil’s Northeast remains one of the main holiday destinations. It also reduces the need for connections to reach the beaches of northeastern Brazil, an important point for family holidays, beach stays or trips combined with other stages in the country.
Buenos Aires/Ezeiza (EZE) – Natal (NAT) – Three weekly frequencies from December 15, 2026 to February 28, 2027:
- Flight LA8093: EZE 02:25 – NAT 07:40 (Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays)
- Flight LA8092: NAT 19:40 – EZE 01:25 (Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays)
Buenos Aires/Ezeiza (EZE) – Maceió (MCZ) – Three weekly frequencies: Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, from December 15, 2026 to February 28, 2027:
- Flight LA8063: EZE 02:15 – MCZ 07:15
- Flight LA8162: MCZ 10:45 – EZE 16:00
LATAM will also strengthen its seasonal route between Buenos Aires/Ezeiza and Recife, increasing from one to four weekly frequencies on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The airline will also maintain its daily service between Buenos Aires and Florianópolis from December 1, 2026 to February 28, 2027.
Buenos Aires/Ezeiza (EZE) – Recife (REC) – 2026-2027 summer season:
- Four weekly frequencies, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays
Buenos Aires (BUE) – Florianópolis (FLN) – from December 1, 2026 to February 28, 2027:
- Daily service
In the other direction, Ushuaia is strengthening its visibility among the Brazilian market during the southern winter. From July 1, the city will have nine weekly direct flights with São Paulo, operated by LATAM, GOL and Aerolíneas Argentinas. This schedule consolidates access to southern Argentina during the snow season, a key period for Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego.
São Paulo/Guarulhos (GRU) – Ushuaia (USH) – Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, from July 1 to August 31, 2026:
- Flight LA8174: GRU 08:15 – USH 14:00
- Flight LA8175: USH 15:00 – GRU 20:30
São Paulo/Guarulhos (GRU) – Ushuaia (USH) – winter season:
- GOL: three weekly frequencies, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays
- Aerolíneas Argentinas: two weekly frequencies during July and August
This dual dynamic illustrates regional seasonality well: Argentina sends more travelers to Brazilian beaches during the summer, while Brazil feeds part of the flows toward Patagonia in winter. For South American itineraries, these adjustments help better align holiday calendars, nearby markets and highly seasonal destinations.
Central America reactivates a short-haul connection
TAG Airlines will resume its route between Guatemala City and San Salvador on July 13, with three weekly frequencies on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, according to the schedule announced by the airline. This short 50-minute route is particularly relevant in a region where a large share of travel between the two countries is still done by road.
Guatemala City (GUA) – San Salvador (SAL) – from July 13, 2026 to August 12:
- Flight TAG 5U 213: GUA 22:30 – SAL 23:20 (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays)
- Flight TAG 5U 212: SAL 00:01 – GUA 00:50 (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays)
From August 14, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays:
- Flight TAG 5U 213: GUA 09:05 – SAL 09:55
- Flight TAG 5U 212: SAL 10:35 – GUA 11:25
Beyond the resumption of service itself, this route recalls the importance of short-distance regional routes in Central America. They do not only change travel times: they also facilitate shorter stays, combinations between neighboring countries and better circulation between nearby markets.

In Mexico, domestic networks gain capacity
In Mexico, Viva launched its route between San Luis Potosí and Monterrey on July 1, with three weekly frequencies on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. This new service gives San Luis Potosí direct access to Monterrey, one of the major economic hubs in northern Mexico.
Monterrey (MTY) – San Luis Potosí (SLP):
- Flight VB 9528: MTY 12:25 – SLP 13:35 (Tuesdays and Sundays)
- Flight VB 9528: MTY 11:15 – SLP 12:25 (Thursdays)
San Luis Potosí (SLP) – Monterrey (MTY):
- Flight VB 9529: SLP 14:10 – MTY 15:20 (Tuesdays and Sundays)
- Flight VB 9529: SLP 12:55 – MTY 14:05 (Thursdays)
Chiclayo adjusts its access to the Panama hub
Copa Airlines is celebrating ten years of operations between Chiclayo and Panama and, from August 5, the airline will adjust the itinerary with two weekly flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The objective is to improve connections via the Hub of the Americas, giving northern Peru more efficient access to Copa’s regional and international network.
The adjustment forms part of Copa’s broader presence in Peru. The airline also operates seven daily flights between Lima and Panama, or 49 weekly frequencies from Jorge Chávez International Airport. For Chiclayo, the continuity of this route over ten years confirms the relevance of international air access for secondary cities when it relies on a strong regional hub.
Chiclayo (CIX) – Panama City/Tocumen (PTY) – Wednesdays and Saturdays from August 5, 2026:
- Flight CM 468: CIX 02:24 – PTY 05:11
- Flight CM 469: PTY 22:35 – CIX 01:21 (+1)

This first regional focus shows another side of Latin American air transport news. Major intercontinental routes remain essential, but travel within the region also depends on shorter connections, sometimes seasonal, sometimes domestic, that concretely change possible itineraries. Between Argentina, Brazil, Central America, Mexico and northern Peru, the month’s announcements recall that regional connectivity is built as much through major hubs as through local adjustments.
