Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru launch “Caminos Andinos” platform

The Andean Community (CAN) has just unveiled Caminos Andinos,” a platform that positions Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru as a major multi-destination tourism region. Through 16 itineraries and 42 destinations, the project connects the coast, Andes, and Amazon, offering a blend of culture, nature, gastronomy, and heritage.

Itineraries to diversify the tourism offer

The site showcases iconic destinations such as Machu Picchu, the Uyuni Salt Flats, Cotopaxi National Park, and the Lost City. It also highlights lesser-known areas with landscapes and experiences that can refresh the regional tourism offer: the Andean Chocó and Central Andes in Ecuador, the Amazonas, San Martín, and Ayacucho regions in Peru, and the Altiplano and central valleys in Bolivia.

Special emphasis is placed on major festivals and popular traditions, such as the Oruro Carnival or the Ichapequene Piesta in San Ignacio de Mojos (Bolivia), which enrich the cultural programming and attract travelers seeking off-the-beaten-path combined circuits.

A tool to plan your trip

Each itinerary includes practical information: climate conditions, transportation, currency, gastronomy, and local customs. The content is organized into sections (culture, nature, crafts, ancestral communities), with a dedicated area for Andean cuisine – an increasingly popular attraction among international visitors.

Economic and regional impact

Tourism represents an average of 2% of the GDP of each Andean Community country and generates over 3.8 million jobs, mainly within micro and small enterprises. With this initiative, governments hope to extend the length of stays and increase spending on tourism services to strengthen the local economy.

A project aligned with international trends

Other experiences in Latin America show that this type of platform yields results: SOSTUR in Panama, focused on community tourism, and Feel Brasil, which promotes integrated experiences across the country, have already proven effective. “Caminos Andinos” follows this trend, enhancing the region’s digital visibility and presence in international markets.

More than just an information portal, “Caminos Andinos” is a strategic tool to design more diverse and sustainable travel circuits. With this initiative, the Andes present themselves as a global tourism corridor, where each country contributes to a shared identity without losing its uniqueness.
