New flights from Boston and Philadelphia to Guanacaste

Guanacaste airport, a key gateway to Costa Rica, continues to expand its international connections, making it easier for travellers from all over the world to reach this popular destination. Two new flights will soon be available from the United States, offering greater convenience and options for tourists.


 

New direct flight from Boston

The first direct flight, operated by Delta Airlines, will connect Boston to Guanacaste airport. This new route, operated with an AirbusA321, will be in service from 11 January 2025 until 31 May 2025. With this initiative, Delta Airlines is responding to the growing demand from North American travellers wishing to discover the natural beauty and cultural attractions of Costa Rica.

Frequency: 1 flight per week on Saturdays
 
Flight: Boston (8:00)* to Guanacaste (12:05)*
Flight: Guanacaste (13:35) * to Boston (18:28) *

“We want to offer our customers more opportunities for a holiday in paradise by increasing the number of our flights to Latin America and the Caribbean,” said Agustin Durand, Deltla Airlines General Manager for Central America and the Caribbean.

 

American Airlines from Philadelphia

The second new feature concerns American Airlines, which will be launching a new direct service from Philadelphia from 7 December 2024 until 30 March 2025. This flight will be available on Saturdays and operated by a Boeing 737-800 with a capacity of 172 seats.

“We are proud to continue strengthening our presence in Costa Rica with our new weekly service between Liberia and Philadelphia, which will begin in December,” said Rafael Sanchez, Regional Director for American Airlines in Central America. “This winter, we will celebrate our 35th anniversary in the country with a robust operation of up to 13 daily flights.”

These new air links are not just logistical additions; they represent an expansion of opportunities for the Costa Rican tourism industry as a whole. The increase in the number of direct flights facilitates access to Guanacaste’s natural wonders, such as its idyllic beaches, national parks and rich marine and terrestrial ecosystems.

 

 

With 643,141 passengers during the first four months of 2024 (28% more than during the same period in 2023), the United States remains the country’s leading passenger market. The announcement of these new air links between the cities of Boston and Philadelphia and Guanacaste airport marks an important step in the development of tourism in Costa Rica, offering convenient and comfortable options for exploring one of Central America’s most attractive regions.
