“Panama vive por mas” awarded by UNWTO
Panama recently received international recognition for its “Panama vive por mas” tourism promotion campaign. The initiative was highlighted at the tourism video competition organised by the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) as part of its 25th General Assembly, held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
A campaign that resonates
The “Panama vive por mas” campaign was designed to highlight Panama’s cultural, historical and natural wealth. Through a short film, it captured the essence of the country, showcasing its breathtaking landscapes, warm-hearted people and age-old traditions. The message is clear: Panama has much more to offer than meets the eye.
Well-deserved recognition at a major event
At the 6th edition of the UNWTO Tourism Video Competition, which took place from 16 to 20 October 2023, the “Panama vive por mas” campaign short film was singled out from among the many entries from all over the world. It was the only short film to win in both categories: “Promotion and Decade of Action” and “Exceptional Stories of Sustainable Tourism”. This double recognition is the fruit of a lot of hard work on the part of the Panama Tourism Authority and all those involved in creating this campaign.
The impact of the recognition
The highlighting of this campaign by the UNWTO gives Panama increased international visibility. It’s an opportunity for the country to reinforce its image as a must-see destination in Central America and attract more travellers. It also demonstrates the importance of creating quality content to highlight a destination’s assets.
The “Panama vive por mas” campaign is a perfect example of how a well thought-out and executed initiative can have a significant impact on promoting a destination. With this recognition from the UNWTO, Panama is well on the way to consolidating its position as a leading tourist destination.
