WTM Latin America 2023 has opened its doors in São Paulo
São Paulo is hosting the tenth edition of the World Travel Market Latin America from 3 to 5 April, which is expected to attract more than 600 exhibitors and around 20,000 professionals from the tourism sector.
Exhibitors and visitors from all over the world are gathered at the Expo Center Norte in São Paulo, including tourist destinations, operators, receptives, airlines, hotel networks and independent hotel companies. To date, more than six thousand meetings have been scheduled, which represents a 35% growth in visits compared to 2022.
The director of WTM Latin America, Daniel Zanetti, spoke of the challenge that the pandemic has posed to the tourism industry and said that today “we are looking to the future and the future is looking at us”. He pointed out that “more than 15,000 people registered to participate in the event, 41% more than in the previous edition”.
For his part, the president of Embratur, Marcelo Freixo, emphasised the “pride Embratur takes in being present at such an important fair. Brazil is ready, thanks to the work of the industry, to welcome travellers from all over the world,”.
Bento Nunes, executive secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, recalled that 2023 is historic, not only because it commemorates the 10th anniversary of WTM Latin America, but also because it marks 20 years since the creation of the Ministry of Tourism. “In the Ministry of Tourism I found a new world, full of possibilities to contribute to the development of our country, and not only to economic development, which is undeniable, but also to social inclusion”.
