Round of 16 match of the 2026 World Cup: Mexico City Stadium, Mexico (July 5)

Mexico City Stadium will host match M92 of the 2026 World Cup on July 5, a round of 16 match. This game will be the last match of the tournament organized in Mexico, before the competition continues in the United States through to the final, scheduled for July 19 at New York New Jersey Stadium.

For Mexico City, this match will close a global sequence that began with the tournament’s opening game. For several weeks, the Mexican capital will have concentrated part of the international attention around football, but also around visitor reception, fan zones, hotels and urban life during the competition.

Beyond the sporting result, this round of 16 match therefore marks the last major Mexican date of the 2026 World Cup. It also helps place Mexico City back in its role as a historic host city, able to combine a global sporting event, urban heritage and a large-scale cultural offer.

Fiesta Nacional del Invierno: Ushuaia, Argentina (July 3 to 11)

In Ushuaia, the Fiesta Nacional del Invierno accompanies the launch of the winter season in Tierra del Fuego. The 2026 program includes activities from July 3 to 11 in several spaces across the province, with events linked to winter centers, gastronomy, outdoor outings and local entertainment.

July 10 will be the highlight of the festival at Cerro Castor. The program includes tastings, a live show and the traditional torchlight descent, an emblematic moment in the opening of the season.

The interest of the event lies in its direct connection with the austral winter. Ushuaia is not limited to cruises, the landscapes of the Beagle Channel or routes toward Antarctica. In July, the city activates another part of its offer, around skiing, snow, winter centers and seasonal stays in southern Patagonia.

Festival Nacional de Tango: La Falda, Argentina (July, main evenings on July 24 and 25)

In the province of Córdoba, La Falda celebrates the 42nd edition of the Festival Nacional de Tango in July. The main evenings are scheduled for July 24 and 25 at the Auditorio Municipal Carlos Gardel, in a city that has built part of its cultural identity around this event.

The festival is not limited to the closing concerts. The July program combines milongas, workshops, activities around tango, exhibitions, artistic presentations and encounters linked to Río de la Plata music. The historic Edén Hotel is also among the venues associated with the event, particularly for welcoming participants from different cities in Argentina and abroad.

For La Falda, the event extends winter activity in the Sierras of Córdoba. It also offers a reading of tango outside Buenos Aires, in a city where the festival has become a cultural and tourism marker established over several decades.

Guanajuato International Film Festival: Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico (July 24 to August 2)

The Guanajuato International Film Festival celebrates its 29th edition from July 24 to August 2, 2026. GIFF brings together a selection of feature films and short films, competitions, special screenings, conferences, workshops and spaces dedicated to film industry professionals.

The 2026 edition is also part of an international dynamic. In May, the festival presented the “Glance at GIFF” selection at the Short Film Corner of the Cannes Marché du Film, composed of eight Mexican short films and accompanied by a delegation of filmmakers and producers. This element gives the festival a scope that goes beyond the local calendar and strengthens its role in the circulation of young Mexican cinema.

Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende offer a coherent setting for this type of event. The heritage, cultural venues and international visitor base of these two cities allow the festival to speak both to film lovers, creators and travelers drawn to cultural stays in Mexico.

Colombiamoda: Medellín, Colombia (July 25 to 31)
