From Riyadh, at the heart of the Middle East, the tourism sector’s attention turned to the Andes and the Pacific. At the TOURISE Awards 2025 gala, three Latin American destinations made a notable breakthrough on the international stage. Although only one of them won an award, their presence among the finalists confirms a regional momentum driven by innovation, high-quality experiences, and the strengthening of their tourism strategies.

Global Recognition for a Region in Transformation

The sixth edition of the TOURISE Awards took place at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center as part of the TOURISE Summit, held alongside the 26th UN Tourism General Assembly. Supported by the Saudi Tourism Authority and the Saudi Ministry of Tourism, the event is based on an independent evaluation system that combines professional applications with review by a jury of experts in tourism, gastronomy, art, and hospitality. Criteria include authenticity, innovation, sustainability, accessibility, safety, and local institutional support.

For Latin America, this edition served as an international showcase, highlighting the upgrade of its offerings and the maturity of its tourism projects.

Áncash, Leader in Adventure Tourism

The Áncash region in Peru won the title of Best Adventure Destination in the World 2025. This result confirms its major role thanks to the Cordillera Blanca, Mount Huascarán, and a network of trekking and climbing routes among the most renowned on the continent. With its glacial lakes, specialized services, and a consolidated offer around Huaraz and the Andean valleys, Áncash continues to attract travelers seeking nature and high-altitude experiences.

Two Finalists That Confirm Regional Excellence

The Galápagos Islands were finalists in the Adventure category. Under a strict conservation model, the archipelago remains a world-class destination for nature and expedition tourism, where regulated tours allow visitors to observe unique biodiversity without compromising ecosystem balance.

Mexico stood out in the Best Entertainment Destination category. Its dense network of museums, historical sites, renowned gastronomy, and continuous calendar of festivals, concerts, and exhibitions explain its growing positioning among the world’s major cultural capitals.

They confirm their ability to stand out in the global market for specialized experiences while preserving the essence that makes them unique.
