Gradual reopening of national parks in Chile and announcement of health protocols

The government inaugurated on August 5th a “step by step” plan for the reopening of the Alert Costero National Park. The start process of reopening the parks and national reserves as well as natural monuments across the countr will last until the end of November.
The measure was announced jointly by the Minister of Agriculture, Antonio Walker, the Minister of National Heritage, Julio Isamit and the Under-Secretary of Tourism, José Luis Uriarte. The authorities said this process is part of the gradual return to activities in the country, respecting the security protocols put in place by the government.
This reopening is accompanied by conditions because if an increase in infections is detected or if sanitary measures are not respected, these spaces may be closed again, in order to protect the health of park wardens, visitors and also residents of the park. the area where these protected areas are located.
Among the protocols put in place, we can highlight the deployment of online reservation as well as card payment, but also the equipment of all plexiglass protection counters.
Activities will begin with a presentation of biosecurity protocols and visitors will be encouraged to clean their belongings before entering the sites. In addition, groups should not exceed 15 people.
At this first stage should follow the reopening of 62 other protected national properties, i.e. more than 600,000 hectares which will also be open in the coming weeks, such as the Mocho Choschuenco National Reserve on August 15 or Torres del Paine and the National Park. from Patagonia during the month of September.
