Iberia strengthens its presence in Latin America with more than 300 weekly flights

Spanish airline Iberia has announced a significant increase in flights to Latin America for the 2023/2024 winter season, with the Spanish carrier planning to exceed 300 weekly flights to the region for the first time.

From 28 October 2023 to 30 March 2024, Iberia will offer more than two million seats between Europe and Latin America, a record for the airline. Mexico City, with 21 weekly flights, and Bogota, Colombia, with three daily flights, are Iberia’s Latin American destinations with the highest capacity.

Peru will also benefit from an increase, consolidating the two daily flights between Lima and Madrid, with a total of 13 weekly frequencies. Argentina, meanwhile, will have one more frequency, with 14 weekly flights to Spain.

Chile will return to its pre-pandemic capacity, with 10 flights a week. Brazil will maintain its daily flight to São Paulo and add an extra frequency to Rio de Janeiro during January and February, reaching four flights a week.

Ecuador will benefit from an additional flight to its capital, Quito, to reach one daily flight, in addition to the three weekly frequencies to Guayaquil. Venezuela will increase from three to five weekly flights between Madrid and Caracas.

In the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic will see an increase during the winter season, reaching nine weekly frequencies in January and 10 in February. Puerto Rico will also increase its connectivity with Spain by an additional frequency in November to five weekly flights, with a target of one daily flight from early 2024. The connection with Havana, Cuba, will have three weekly frequencies.

María Jesús López Solás, Iberia’s Commercial, Network Development and Alliances Director, said: “We are developing an ambitious plan in Latin America and the Caribbean that will give a great boost to connectivity with this region and, above all, strengthen Madrid Airport’s role as a bridge between Europe and Latin America“.
