Nicoya: Costa Rica’s paradise peninsula
Costa Rica, a jewel of nature, has made preserving its environment an absolute priority. With almost 5% of the world’s biodiversity nestled within its borders and 26% of its territory dedicated to nature protection, this country is a model of sustainable tourism. At the heart of this wonderland lies the Nicoya Peninsula, a veritable Eden for all those who cherish nature in all its splendour.
The Nicoya Peninsula is famous for being one of the world’s five ‘blue zones’, where people live longer, happier and healthier lives than anywhere else on the planet, surpassing countries such as Japan and Iceland. This longevity is attributed to a combination of factors, including a lifestyle focused on well-being, a pleasant climate throughout the year, a living environment with extraordinary nature and a healthy, natural diet.
A paradise for travellers
The Nicoya Peninsula is a must-see destination for visitors to Costa Rica. It offers thrills, unique experiences and adventure, as well as tranquillity. The region offers a wide variety of leisure activities and unspoilt natural spots, but it is also one of the most developed regions in the country, with hotel infrastructures geared towards travellers’ comfort.
Among the must-see places on the Nicoya Peninsula are the small seaside villages of Montezuma and Mal país, which have evolved into incredible tourist destinations. The latter, in particular, is one of our most popular spots, especially with surfers, thanks to its magnificent beaches such as Manzanillo, Samara, Caletas and Guiones.
Travellers can also discover marvellous nature reserves, such as Diriá National Park, Barra Honda National Park – famous for its underground caves – and Marino Las Baulas National Park. These protected areas allow you to explore incredible coves and sublime mangroves, and marvel at the arrival of sea turtles in the Ostional National Wildlife Refuge!
Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula is more than just a tourist destination. It’s a true paradise for travellers, a place where nature, quality of life and well-being come together: the quintessence of pura vida. So don’t hesitate to come and discover and explore this jewel of Costa Rica, and write your own adventure in the heart of this fascinating region.
