United Airlines increases frequencies between Chicago and Houston to Guanacaste

Photo : United AirlinesBeginning December 19, 2024, United Airlines will significantly increase frequencies to Guanacaste, Costa Rica, from Chicago O’Hare (ORD) and Houston George Bush (IAH) International Airports. These increased frequencies, operated by 175-seat Boeing 737-900 aircraft, are designed to meet the growing demand from North American travellers for this increasingly popular destination.

These new frequencies reflect the enthusiasm of North American tourists for Costa Rica, and in particular for the Guanacaste region, known for its pristine beaches, breathtaking natural landscapes and rich local culture. William Rodríguez, Costa Rica’s Minister of Tourism, hailed the expansion as a sign of the country’s strong appeal, saying that the upcoming high season, which runs from Thanksgiving to Easter, is shaping up to be one of the best yet. He added that Costa Rica is ready to offer unforgettable experiences to visitors throughout the country.

César Jaramillo, General Manager of Guanacaste airport, also expressed his satisfaction at the increase in flights. He pointed out that the Chicago-Guanacaste route, in particular, has seen spectacular growth of +46% compared to the previous season, consolidating Guanacaste’s position as a destination of choice for North American markets. In fact, the first half of 2024 has already seen an influx of 1,169,192 passengers, an increase of 26% on the previous year, testifying to the continued attractiveness of the region.

 

This expansion of United Airlines services represents a major opportunity to strengthen Costa Rica’s tourism sector, offering travellers more options and boosting the local economy.
