What is SAFE TRAVELS?

The impact of the pandemic on the tourism sector is unprecedented worldwide, leading to a total shutdown of the industry. The lifting of travel restrictions will only be one step in the revival of traveller demand, the main issues will be the regain of confidence and the adaptation of the whole tourism ecosystem to this new reality.

In response to these expectations, the tourism industry has been working jointly with countries to obtain new safety and health certifications and stamps from international organisations, such as SAFE TRAVELS set up by the World Travel & Tourism Concil (W.T.T.C.) with the support of the World Tourism Organisation (W.T.O.).

This Safe Travels stamp, developed by the W.T.T.C. in collaboration with governments, health experts, but also industry associations and its members, provides a series of protocols, information and tools that are essential to guarantee the safety of all those involved in tourism. These rules aim, with standardized measures, to reassure the traveller throughout his trip while guaranteeing sustainable and responsible practices.

The protocols have been created and adapted for eleven sectors in order to best respond to the specificities of each: hotels, attractions, outdoor retail, aviation, airports, short-term rentals, adventure tourism, tour operators, convention centres and MICE, car rental and insurance.

To date, more than 200 of the world’s leading tourism companies have joined the SAFE TRAVELS stamp, as well as many countries and official national and regional bodies.

Quimbaya Latin America is approved by international or national bodies in each of its destinations. You can find all the information about the reopening of countries and the certifications and stamps received at https://www.quimbaya-tours.com/en/covid19-updates/
